Underwood Ammo 908Underwood Ammo 908 Xtreme Hunter 45-70Gov 325Gr Solid Monolithic 20 Per Box/10 Case
The Xtreme Hunter Was Born From The Popular Xtreme Defender Product Line. Like The XD, The Xtreme Hunter Ammunition Has An Optimized Nose Flute. The Difference Is That Weight And Attained Velocity Have Been Optimized To Achieve Maximum Penetration Depth With a Permanent Wound Cavity (PWC). Not Only Is The PWC Over 100% larger Than Any Other Expanding Bullet, Terminal Performance Is Achieved despite Being Shot Through barriers. The Solid Copper Body ensures That Thick Hide, Bone, And Any Other Barrier Will Have Minimal Effect On The Permanent Wound Channel. Nickel-Plated Brass casings, The Nickel Plating Process provides Several Key benefits, Not Limited To But including; Improved Feeding In All Actions Of Firearms Enhanced Corrosion Resistance Over Traditional Brass, Improved cosmetics, And Ease Of Cleanup During Reloading. Nickel-Plated casings Will Not Tarnish Like Brass During Storage Or When In Contact With Foreign materials Such as Leather, Moisture, And Other metals. As With All Of Underwood Ammo rounds, We Utilize Flash Suppressed Powder So That Vision Will Not Be compromised If It becomes Necessary To Use Your Firearm In Low Light. This High-Performance Ammunition Is Field Tested using Popular, Real Firearms That customers Are Most Likely To Own Out In The Real World.

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
Developed by the U.S. government for the trapdoor Springfield, the 45-70 was introduced in 1873, thus among the oldest cartridges still in continuous production. In the hands of the U.S. Army this was the cartridge that really won the West! Although officially replaced as our service cartridge by the 30-40 Krag in 1892 the 45-70 saw service in Cuba and the Philippines. It had long since been a popular sporting cartridge--and remains so today. Using a .458-inch bullet in a rimmed 2.105-inch case, original loadings with 70 grains of blackpowder used a 500-grain bullet for infantry and 405 grains for cavalry. Today's factory loads with smokeless powder are mild due to potential use in the weak trapdoor Springfield action. Standard is a 405-grain bullet at 1330 feet per second, with 300 and 350-grain loads at higher velocity available. The 45-70 was and is widely chambered in single-shots and remains popular in large-frame lever actions from Browning/Winchester, Henry, and Marlin. —
